Thanks Aquaread for referring us… and here’s a bottle of bubbly!

As part of Broadbiz’s referral scheme, we were delighted last week to present a bottle of champagne to one of our first ever clients, Aquaread. Last year, Craig Harrison (shown below) had a very nice meal at Il Tricolore, Ramsgate but did notice that their website was down.

He mentioned to the team that Broadbiz were a local company that had helped Aquaread for a number of years and that they could help, so we got together. A few weeks later, Il Tricolore now have a new website which you can take a look at www.iltricoloreramsgate.co.uk.

Our Referral Scheme at Broadbiz

We believe that the best feedback that we can get comes in the form of a recommendation and so we run a referral scheme which just says “Thank You!”.

Problems Emailing Hotmail Accounts

Most recent update on Wednesday 2nd March 2016 at 10:20:

Discussions continue regarding lifting the block on our IP 213.171.216.60. However the majority of emails are now being sent successfully.

Update on Tuesday 1st March 2016 at 10:18:

The majority of emails are now being delivered to Hotmail email accounts; however work is still ongoing as bounces are still being received.

Update on Tuesday 1st March 2016 at 08:15:

We are currently investigating reports of bounces still being received by users of the mail platform trying to send to Hotmail e-mail addresses. If you are receiving bounces, as per previously the work around for this is to send the e-mail via the OWA (login.livemail.co.uk). We will update the status page as soon as more information is known.

Update on Monday 29th February 2016 at 16:21:

Emails are now being delivered to Hotmail.com, live.com and outlook.com however there may be some delay and intermittent sending, including bounce-backs until all email is able to pass through whilst the system updates.

Update on Monday 29th February 2016 at 15:04:

There is no further news from Operations Support regarding the Hotmail ban being lifted. They are still working with Hotmail in order to get this resolved.

Update from Fasthosts on Monday 29th February 2016 at 09:05:

Operations Support have been actively communicating with Hotmail to have this listing lifted, however at this time mails from this IP is still being actively rejected by Hotmail.

This will affect Starter, StarterPlus, Standard and Advanced mailboxes when configured to send via e-mail client and using Fasthosts SMTP server. Work arounds for the time being are to use OWA or an alternative SMTP server to send mail to these addresses.

We apologise for the delay in getting a resolution on this issue.

Most recent update from Fasthosts on Sunday 28th February 2016 at 09:17:

We are still in contact with Hotmail, this is still being treated as a top priority. We will post any updates here as they come.

Update from Fasthosts on Friday 26th February 2016 at 22:38:

Our Operations Support team report that discussions with Microsoft are ongoing presently and no ETA to the resolution is available at this time.

We apologise for the delay in resolution of this issue.

As mentioned previously, customers needing to send to Hotmail addresses should access their mailbox online via https://login.livemail.co.uk where the message will get though without issue, this will not work for the webmail however.

We continue to treat this issue as an urgent priority.

Update from Fasthosts on Monday 1st March 2016:

All problems have been resolved.

Initial Post on Thursday 25th February 2016 at 12:12:

We have had a handful of calls from clients this morning as emails being sent to some Hotmail accounts are being rejected.

The Problem
We have been in touch with Fasthosts, our hosting partners and they have confirmed that some of the Hotmail servers have found their way onto a black list which means that emails will not be delivered and you will receive an error email response.

The Workaround
Fasthosts engineers are working on the problem but have told us that customers needing to send to Hotmail addresses should access their mailbox online via webmail where the message will get though without issue.

The Solution
Fasthosts are continuing to resolve the problem and will update their support pages when they have done so. We will update you via email when that happens and as Fasthosts are usually pretty good, I would expect that to be later this afternoon.

Get In Touch
If you would like any further information, please feel free to get in touch and we will give you our usual helping hand.

Updated website and logo design – Cantuaria Stonemasons

Cantuaria Stonemasons who been working with Broadbiz to develop their web presence for 5 years or so and to reward them for the on for a long time, so in return we offered them a free upgrade of their site to display a more neat and user friendly website.

This has also benefited the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) due to the new content and the use of modern day techniques, to help increase the ranking on Google and Bing.

The Old Site vs The New Site

Latest version of Cantuaria Stonemasons

Alan and Bill have worked with us and provided some great images, so a gallery was a great idea to show off their latest work. Each service they provide has its relevant gallery, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

This redesign has kept a similar structure to the previous one, expect we have used a much wider slideshow, cleaner fonts and updated images. Anyone who is to visit this website would be able to navigate around the site no problems.

Logo Design

Previously creating the logo, Cantuaria Stonemasons wanted to get away from the green colour, so we created something something similar but using the colours from the new redesign.

General Design

Broadbiz originally created a design for Dry Home Solutions, but they then decided to go for a different look using more colours. After our second draft was ready, they provided us with lots of wording and images to be used all over their website.

Mobile Friendly

On average, 60% of internet users are generally browsing on their mobile device. With this in mind, a responsive website would benefit the website owner and the users that visit.

It’s not just for golfers though, as they also offer events including a monthly carvery, wedding packages as well as great corporate packages.

Our Process
Our development process includes the client at every stage and this was  no different. We started the development of the site with version 1 which was an interpretation of the information provided by them and sent that for review.
Then after the general look and feel has been agreed, we then get the content, wording and images into the site ready for launch.

How to Promote Your Website

A little earlier in January, I was asked to make a presentation to the Thanet Business Network advising members on ways in which they can increase the traffic to their website. The presentation went through a series of techniques both online and offline and culminated in this final slide which pretty much covers it.

High Quality Content

Google loves content. Simple as that. When people are searching for goods and services, Google is matching what is being searched against what you have on your website. If you haven’t taken a good look through your website content for a while, take half an hour to do so and let us have any updates.
