Shane & Collette had “rolled their own” by using a Wix site which can have its place, but it can really pay to use a professional (we would say that, wouldn’t we?) and thankfully that’s exactly what Shane and Collette decided to do.

8am on Saturday morning saw the launch of the new Margate Soul Weekend website which included an online ticket facility which you can see at www.margatesoulweekend.co.uk.

It was an interesting thing to watch the people pouring in over the first few hours and the festival has sold an unprecedented number of tickets in the first two days of sale.

Margate Soul Weekend started with Eli Thompson of The Westcoast Bar and Venue & DJ Micky B (East Kent Soul Connection), who on one Margate Carnival Sunday back in August 2002 decided to bring their love of Soul Music to the masses.

The Mayoralty is administered by the Margate Charter Trustees, these being those elected members of Thanet District Council whose wards lie within the boundary of the old Borough of Margate. These nineteen Councillors are responsible for electing the Town Mayor, who is then Chairman of all Charter Trustee Meetings.
