What is the process for developing my website?

The process is very much an iterative one and in most cases we will get your site live within 20 days. The full process is detailed on our process page but here are the steps that we take:

  1. Get in touch

  6. Website launch

How many amends are you allowed to make during the design phase?

As many as you like to get the website right for you, but typically it will take 3-4 iterations.

The company specify 15 pages. Are these templated, and if so what are the pages?

The 15 pages can be whatever you want them to be. There is always a home page and a contact page but the rest can be anything you want.

What can I use my monthly maintenance & support minutes For?

All packages come with a specified amount of maintenance and support minutes for you to use. Although you may well have the ability to manage some of your content, there will always be some of the more structural parts of your site that needs to be maintained by us, e.g. your logo, new pages, colouring and styling, etc.

When these things happen, you need to get in touch with us and we will raise a ticket and get it on our worklist.

How quickly will my updates be carried out?

You will be in control of a number of elements of you content such as news, events, FAQs, team members, etc. but any time you need to get in touch with us, we will raise a ticket and carry out your changes within the following timescales.

  • Minor changes to your website, defined as less than 1 hour work, will be carried out within 4 working days
  • Medium-sized changes to your website, defined as between 1 and 4 hours work, will be carried out within 6 working days
  • Major changes to your website, defined as more than 4 hours work, will be discussed by both parties and a timescale decided upon.

How many amends can we then make a year?

This depends on the package that you have decided to go forward with. Each package includes website maintenance time each month to keep your site up-to-date. This is a varied time depending on the selected package chosen by you, each package has a varied amount of our time a month which can be rolled over so you never lose a minute. If there are elements that need updating more often we are able to give you access to our content management system at a one-off cost of £60 which covers its integration.

How wil I manage content on my website?

Whereas the structure of the site (look, feel, colours, pages, etc.) will be managed by use, we are able to give you access to manage a wide range of content such as News, Events, Page Contet, FAQs, Team Members, Offers, Vacancies, Propertis, Videos.

This is done in our Broadbiz Dashboard which we have built ourselves using the best aspects of web content management. We have made the dashboard so simple that everyone can use it and we will send you access to the dashboard as part of your website launch.

How will my website rank? What about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the term used to make sure that your website is in its best state to rank well on Google. And that is very much split into on-site and off-site SEO.

  • On site - the structure, content and how up-to-date your website content
  • Off site - what happens off the site such as links into the site, social media, etc.

We can control the on-site stuff by putting your website content in the best structure that it can be, Google expects web content to be in line with W3C standards and everything we do works to those standards. So naturally all of our website rank well.

We also encourage our clients to make the most of content management functions such as news, events, FAQs, team members, etc. so that Google knows your site is up-to-date and ranks your site better.

How will I know how many people are visiting my website?

As part of our launch process we will set up Google Analytics which is Google's tool to allow you see how many people are visiting your website along with where they have come from, what they searched for plus 100s of others pieces of information.

The tool is accessible via an app on your phone which we will grant you access to and your website traffic data is sitting right there in your pocket.

Do they plug in and support Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is plugged in as part of the launch process and we set it up so that you can log in using your phone and monitor your analytics at any time.

Will my website be live 100% of the time?

Our web partners, Fasthosts and TSOHost are two of the UK’s best providers but they are not able to guarantee 100% up-time.

All websites will go down from time to time but both partners have an excellent track record of fixing things when they go wrong. Neither partners quote their uptime but Broadbiz estimate it to be 99.5% or more.

How will my payments be collcted?

Broadbiz run a Direct Debit scheme via our payment partners, GoCardless.

When you sign a development contract with us, we will send you an invoice for the first 3 months as well as send you a link to sign up to our Direct Debit scheme which will start in month 4.

When we launch your website we will add a subscription to your Direct Debit 3 months on from the launch date and each collection will be accompanied by a VAT invoice from Intuit Quickbooks.

Who owns my domain and website content?

The domain and content remains yours and as long as the initial 12 month contract has been completed, then we are happy to let you have that.

Any domains that we register on your behalf will be registered in your name and so you are the legal owner of them.

As far as your website content is concerned, if anything happens to your business relationship with Broadbiz then we will happily package up your website content and give you a copy.

Do they support Facebook / Twitter feeds?

We can embed either feed if you would like us to. We also always prominently place all social media icons, usually in the header, the footer and contact page.

Does the site have video enabled embedding

We can load videos onto the site but that can have an adverse effect on performance. Our preferred method is to upload onto YouTube to allow them to deal with the server issues and then embed those links into the website.
